For the first time, an animated film made in Pakistan is included in the list of Oscar nominees.
Oku.Az “Izvestiya” reports that the hand-drawn animation tells about relationships within the family against the background of the upcoming war.
The Glass Blower script is Pakistan’s first animated feature film and the directorial debut of musician Usman Riaz. He began drawing his first sketches for animation ten years ago.
According to the animator, he has been interested in hand-drawn animation since he was little. This interest led him to Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio founded by legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki. It was the studio’s veterans who inspired him to create his own cartoon.
The film does not directly highlight where the events take place, but foreign film critics agree that the film represents Pakistan, its cultural identity and traditions.
