Compromís suspects the success of the sponsored festival with 3.3 million and questions Carlos Mazón about ticket sales

President Carlos Mazón considered the October 9 party a “resounding success,” sponsored by the Generalitat Valenciana with 3.3 million euros and which brought together 50,000 people, he said. Mazón highlighted the festival’s impact on the local economy, “which has boosted tourism, the hospitality and commerce sectors.”

However, Compromís doubts the figures provided by the Consell. The Valencian party recorded a series of questions addressed to the Regional Executive in which it asks for details on the tickets drawn by the Generalitat, those sold by the company organizing the event and the invitations reserved for the Presidency.

“We know that Mazón spent three times what it is really worth, now we want to know the tickets they distributed to ‘sell’ a success that is false,” says MP Verònica Ruiz. And the opposition focused on the procedure for awarding sponsorship of the festival. The PSPV-PSOE announced last Thursday that it would report the millionaire sponsorship to the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.

For his part, Compromís recalls that the Presidency refused to transmit the file to the two opposition groups, arguing that it is not yet closed. “After seeing how Mazón gives 3.3 million euros to a seven-month-old company that turns its back on Valencian music producers for the ‘Som de la terreta’ festival and seeing that they refused us access to the process of handing over the file, at Compromís, we doubt the success that is said to be of the festival,” says the regional parliamentarian.

The controversial festival company, as reported by elDiario.es, registered the trademark “Som de la terreta” and created the website 47 days before the recruitment process began, a specific and urgent procedure. Mazón himself announced the celebration of the concerts six days before the Presidency requested an offer from Iron Stage SL, the company created last January and which obtained the sponsorships.

The announcement of the price was limited to justifying the sponsorship of one million dollars by the fact that a single operator can execute the contract by holding the “exclusive rights” of intellectual and industrial property of the event.
