The Tu-134 is a Soviet airliner developed in the 1960s that became widely known for its reliability and use for short and medium-haul flights. In recent years, the aircraft has been used in Russia for military purposes, including transporting officials.
Fires of military targets, including aircraft and helicopters, have become more frequent in Russia since the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Similar cases are regularly recorded at several military bases in the country. For example, in September 2024, two similar incidents occurred: in one of them, in Omsk, a Mi-8 military helicopter burned, and schoolchildren participated in the fire.
