The world’s largest alternative asset manager, Blackstone, has set its sights on Zaragoza, to establish a new data center in Europe. The investment will reach 7.5 billion euros, and will thus be added to those already announced in recent months in Aragon, such as Amazon or Microsoft, positioning the community as a technological reference on the continent.
This Monday, during an informative breakfast that brought together all the councilors and political representatives of the Zaragoza City Hall and the Cortes of Aragon, as well as the most powerful businessmen of the community, such as the Ríos group , or the controversial Forestalia, the president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, announced this new investment which will represent a new impetus for the “transformation of the economy of the autonomous community”.
Jean-Christophe Dubois participated in the informative breakfast organized in the Crown of Aragon of the Regional Government House as a representative of the Blackstone investment fund.
The planned investment will be made in the Zaragoza municipality of Calatorao, on an industrial land located next to the A-2, seven kilometers from the urban center of the city, and in the area of influence of municipalities such as Lucena from Jalón, Épila or la Muela.
The announcement by the Aragonese president was made after the approval this Monday by the Government Council of a Declaration of Regional Interest of General Interest (DIGA), which will allow the promotion of this new data center campus, 224 hectares, which upon approval will initiate the development planning process.
