Military transport plane “Tu-134” caught fire in Russia

“The Tu-134 military transport aircraft caught fire in Russia. The aircraft was destroyed on the territory of the Orenburg-2 military airfield. These aircraft are used for flights of the direction of the Russian Ministry of Defense.”

Oku.AzAccording to information from the General Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The plane was reported to belong to the 117th military transport aviation regiment of the Russian Armed Forces. According to information obtained from public sources, this regiment serves military vehicles carrying special loads for material support of the Russian army. The aircraft of this regiment are based at the Orenburg airfield.

Video released by the General Intelligence Agency shows that the fire started in the nose of the military transport plane. The fire subsequently spread and covered most of the hull.

It was noted that in Russia only the Ministry of Defense continues to operate Tu-134 aircraft. The plane has a capacity of 76 to 80 passengers for short and medium-haul flights.
