THE Civil Guard found last Sunday a flying zodiac in which a tourist travels by flying over the coast of the southern zone of Gran Canaria.
The vehicle It flew at an approximate height of between 50 and 100 meters and at a speed of approximately 30 knots, and was detected by the radar of a Civil Guard patrol boat.
But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it. In 2020, another seaplane surprised bathers on this beach in Tenerife. This is an attraction that is offered in other countries, the problem is that here they have not received the necessary authorizations.
This machine composed of hang glider seats, a rear engine and its corresponding wings, is a hybrid which did not have the necessary approval and what’s more, he was transporting a tourist. What is surprising is that it is already the third of its kind seen in the Canary Islands.
Another flying zodiac was recorded just a year ago also in Gran Canaria and another was intercepted in Tenerife 4 years ago. The coordinator of the AEPAL seaplane, Yago Osset, explains to LaSexta that it is “a very versatile, navigable and amusing“.
If appropriate approval is obtained, we could see these aircraft flying over our shores. “We have great potential, thousands of kilometers of coastline. Hydroaviation is not yet a reality, but we are sure that it will soon be the case,” commented Osset.
In fact, this flying machine can be enjoyed in other countries, such as Chile, Colombia or Cuba. There is a tourist attraction the best: it starts in the sea, picks up speed and takes off, the rest enjoys the view.
