Scholarships for students are expected to increase from early next year.
According to Xezerxeber.az, according to the Law “On Education”, scholarships are allocated to doctoral students, students and trainees of higher education, secondary education and educational institutions of first full-time professional specialization. However, students report that the scholarship amount does not cover the costs of rent, transportation, and equipment necessary for teaching. For this reason, some students are forced to work after school.
Jeyhun Mammadov, a member of the Milli Majlis Science and Education Committee, said the scholarships are designed to meet the minimum needs of the student. At the same time, he said that for the development of the general educational process, the number of loan funds for student scholarships and the number of students studying at State expense have increased.
The deputy also clarified the opinion that some students in Azerbaijan have fewer scholarships than in other countries.
