The triumphal procession and the solemn pontifical presided over by Cardinal Rouco Varela close twelve months of celebration of the hundred years of Patronage
The town of Rute closed the Jubilee Year of the Carmelites granted by the Holy See for the centenary of the Patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a solemn pontifical mass presided over by Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela and a triumphal procession of the Virgin from the parish to her sanctuary.
Last Saturday, at eight o’clock in the morning, the boss of Rute left procession from her sanctuary at the parish of Saint Catherine Martyr of Alexandria for the solemn pontifical Eucharist which closed the jubilee year.
Initially, it was planned for this mass to take place in the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Park, but this could not be done due to unfavorable weather conditions, according to the Diocese of Córdoba.
Nearly 600 people participated in the mass during which the Town Hall of Rute presented the Blessed Virgin a mantilla for this commemoration. Then began the extraordinary procession to his shrine, which was massive. All this accompanied by the sounds of the Cornet and Drum Band Rosario de Cádiz and the Rute Municipal Music Band.
Under intense rain of petals The Virgin of Carmen entered her sanctuary and thus ended an intense year of jubilee grace granted by the Holy See which began in October 2023.
