Alicante is dedicated to helping the thousands of people affected by the DANA disaster in the province of Valencia. this Friday The Town Hall has reinforced the sending of troops and equipment.

Early this All Saints’ Day they left four tow trucks with two agents and a Civil Protection vehicle. In the afternoon, 14 cleaning vehicles with large loading capacity will leave.

This reinforcement on the ground is part of the contingent that the Town Hall has already sent on Thursday to the disaster area, made up of 17 Speis firefighters, two local police units with eight officers and two others from Civil Protection with as many volunteers.

“Early this Friday, the Emergency Coordination Center requested support cranes for the evacuation of vehicles swept away and accumulated by the flood and, as we have done so far, The Town Hall has made all its material and human resources available to you.“, explained Mayor Luis Barcala through a press release.

“The cranes join the teams of firefighters, local police and civil protection who have again traveled to Valencia with new volunteers and They took over from their colleagues, who were already working on Thursday on the ground,” he added.

Barcala stressed that The Emergency Coordination Center is the organization responsible for channeling and specify urgent assistance according to the means necessary, the precise location of support and the specific type of work required. “And this is how Alicante City Council addresses the problem and takes care of it,” he concluded.

The Municipality of Alicante is responding to the demand for heavy cleaning machines from Emergencies and on the afternoon of Friday it will send 14 open box trucks and other vehicles from Netial, the company that won the cleaning contract municipal, as was done five years ago with DANA which devastated part of Vega Baja.

Urgent aid collection

The sending of troops and machines coincides with the collection that takes place at the Pedro Ferrándiz Technical Center-Pavilion. There they receive food, goods and basic aid for the victims of the tragedy with a strong participation of the population of Alicante.

The Monte Tossal sports arena opens without interruption on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., for the reception and classification of all this solidarity material.

The aid that will be distributed to those affected must be: hygiene products; waters, fruit juices and milk; non-perishable canned foods; cookies, cereals and packaged pastries; buckets, shovels, towels and large brooms as well as baby feeding and hygiene. All clothing needs have already been covered, according to the Emergency Coordination Center, so please do not provide additional clothing.
