It is the city of Ciudad Real with a natural park that Jesús Calleja visits in ‘Volando Voy’

On September 4, tenth season of “Volando Voy”, the program Jesus Calleja in Four. Since then, every Wednesday the adventurous presenter has visited different territories of our country with a purpose in each of them, in addition to showing the region and its attributes.

Concretely, we can see on the screen the Lagunas de Ruidera National Park, a place located between the provinces from Ciudad Real and Albaceteformed by a complex system of several lagoons which, over 30 kilometers, constitute the Upper Guadiana valley and in its highest part the cradle of the Guadiana river.

As the preview shows, Calleja visits the area as the crow flies and on foot, to get to know the area and set up a basic rescue course. For this you will have the testimony of residents of the neighborhood and surrounding areassuch as Argamasilla de Alba, Villanueva de los Infantes, Ruidera, Tomelloso, Villanueva de la Fuente or Ossa de Montiel.

As we can read on the park’s official website, “Ruidera is one of the most surprising natural spaces in Spain, a place of great landscape value, with a diversity of environments to discover and explore, know its lagoons, to enjoy immense lagoons with transparent waters and an intense turquoise blue color. In addition, in this park there are several swimming areas and you can do different activities such as hiking, diving, kayaking, paddle surfing or sport fishing at points provided for this purpose.

Ruidera lagoons: how many are there and which ones can you swim in?

Considered a wetland biosphere reserve since 1981, the Lagunas de Ruidera Park is a natural paradise with a flora and fauna to discover and preserve while enjoying its waters and trails. This place receives visitors at any time of the year, but summer is the time when most people come to cool off in its turquoise waters.

Although swimming is not allowed in all areas, there is plenty of space where you can swim, because in total there are 15 lagoons from Ruidera Park: Laguna Blanca, Laguna Conceja, Laguna Tomilla, Laguna Tinaja, Laguna de San Pedro, Laguna Redondilla, Laguna Lengua, Laguna Salvadora, Laguna Santos Morcillo, Laguna Batana, Laguna Colgada, Laguna del Rey, Laguna Cueva Morenilla, Laguna Coladilla and the Cenagosa lagoon. Among all those where swimming is authorized, we find the following:

  • Laguna del Rey, Ruidera Lagoon beach areas

  • Laguna Colgada, beaches and swimming areas

  • Suspended lagoon beach and swimming areas in front of the Alonso Quijano hostel

  • Laguna Santos Morcillo lagoon beach

  • Laguna Salvadora, beaches and swimming areas on the highway

  • Laguna Redondilla, beaches and swimming areas, during dry months without water

  • San Pedro lagoons, beaches and lagoon edges near the Ossa de Montiel road

Generally speaking, all lagoons where swimming is permitted are fairly accessible and generally have parking lots, rural lodges, hotels, restaurants or bars nearby. Additionally, unlike many other natural pools, swimming in the Ruidera lagoons is impossible.totally free.
