Police caught Georgian thieves “working” across Germany

A Georgian gang was discovered in Germany exporting stolen goods through Georgian Post, Bild reports in Russian.*.

“12 gang members were arrested, all of them citizens of Georgia. They stole bicycles, alcohol, perfumes and electrical appliances worth millions of euros from all over Germany, hid them in refugee shelters and then mailed them to Georgia.” – says the message.

The gang was led by a 54-year-old Georgian man who worked as a subcontractor for Georgian Post, the state postal operator. Some of those arrested also worked for the Georgian Post. Since March 2023, they have been organizing the delivery of packages with stolen goods from Germany to Georgia in minibuses and trucks.

German police followed the group’s activities for almost two years. A large-scale raid was carried out with the participation of about 200 police officers. They searched six homes and warehouses in Berlin, Hamburg and the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
