“Les Falsses Confidences”: Marivaux magnified by Alain Françon
Wonder of Marivaux’s language, and marvel of reading, limpid and ethereal, which the director Alain Françon makes of it, continuing his companionship with the master of French love. false confidencesor how a young widow of high lineage, Araminte, will take the path that will allow her to love Dorante, of lower social extraction, against the conventions of her time. “I have searched in the human heart for the different niches where love can hide when it is afraid to show itself, and each of my comedies aims to take it out of one of those niches.”wrote the author, served here by a magnificent cast led by Georgia Scalliet and Pierre-François Garel. In Rennes, a festival to take the pulse of the world
Every year in November, the festival at the Théâtre national de Bretagne in Rennes takes the pulse of the world as it moves forward and expresses itself in the most contemporary scenic forms. The 2024 edition thus opens with Leviathana show by Lorraine de Sagazan that takes off the masks of expeditious justice, as practiced in immediate appearance hearings. It also gives an important place to issues of disability and psychological suffering, particularly in the case of Village mounted by director Chela De Ferrari with performers who suffer from Down syndrome and with La Brandethe show inspired by Alice Vannier in the experience of La Borde, a psychiatric clinic created by Dr. Jean Oury in 1953. Many other artists will perform at this festival: Werner Herzog, Boris Charmatz, Valérie Mréjen, Damien Jalet… F.Da.

“Marius” dreams of escape
It is a somewhat special show by Joël Pommerat, where we nevertheless recognize his unique touch. Mario was born, in 2019, in the central house of Arles and in the Baumettes prison, in Marseille, with inmates who followed workshops with the author-director. Five years later, the prisoners were released and freely performed this show where Joël Pommerat, adapting the famous play by Marcel Pagnol (“You break my heart!” »), speaks magnificently of the conflicts between the desire to escape and the desire to love. The approach is above all an opportunity to do tremendous work to overload the theater with its weight of reality, whether of bodies or life experiences. F.Da.
