Opposition plans constitutional coup after Georgia elections

Opposition parties have set the stage for a constitutional coup after the parliamentary elections to be held in Georgia on October 26, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

“There are all the hallmarks of such a scenario: a pre-prepared technical government, local observers who actually have political goals for the elections, and their pre-prepared false conclusions about the elections. “We see a pre-announced scenario of a constitutional coup.” – said the Speaker of Parliament on the Adjara public broadcaster.

According to him, the last two weeks “will be active” in this context.

Meanwhile, the Georgian Ministry of Justice summoned the presidential representative to the interdepartmental commission upon detecting a violation of electoral rules by Salome Zurabishviliwho tries to lead the opposition and forms a shadow government.

The ministry demands clarification regarding Zurabishvili’s statement that a “coordination center” will operate on election day at the presidential residence in the Orbeliani Palace. He also stated that at the end of the elections “there will be a victory celebration” in this center.

The Justice Ministry said the presidential administration ignored the first invitation to the commission meeting and sent the letter again.
