Within the framework of the West Azerbaijan Chronicle project, the program “Armenians took their names because we could not claim our monuments of the Christian era”, presented by Dr.
Oku.Az Bakhtiyar Hasanov, Ph.D. in History, spoke about how lands belonging to Azerbaijani landowners were taken from their hands by court decisions and handed over to Armenians after the transfer of the Hays to Western Azerbaijan in the 19th century.
He said that Tsarist Russia established false courts at that time in order to place Armenians in the treasury lands of Azerbaijan. With this, a great judicial game has begun to hand over the lands of the Azerbaijani landowners to the Armenians. Although Azerbaijani landowners have resisted for years, the Russian judicial system has always issued decisions in favor of the Armenians. The tsarist government supported the cunning of displaced Armenians to seize land. A situation arose where during the process that lasted 12 years, the court could not find evidence and made decisions against the Azerbaijani owner without any basis. “The Russians even ordered the resettled Armenians to plunder the population of Azerbaijan and earn a living.”
According to him, the attempt by the Russians to present the Armenians transferred from Iran to the Daraleyaz district under another name was denounced by Hasanali Sultan: “The Armenians were illegally housed in the houses of Azerbaijanis who moved to southern Azerbaijan to protect themselves of the Russian occupation attacks.”
B. Hasanov also clarified some obscure points and said that there are documents proving the existence of more than 200 mosques in Western Azerbaijan: “Since we could not appropriate our monuments from the Christian era, the Armenians removed those monuments in their name.”
It should be remembered that the goal of the Western Azerbaijan Chronicle project is to preserve and promote the name of our historical lands, as well as to learn about the deportation of Azerbaijanis by the Armenians, the toponyms that existed in those territories, but their names. Countless examples of underground and surface material culture have been erased: ancient settlements, necropolises, tumuli, remains of a castle, palace and fortification, caravansary, bridges, funerary chests, stone crosses, statues of horses and rams, temples, churches.
