Liam Payne, former member of the English group One Direction, died this Wednesday in Buenos Aires after falling from the third floor of a hotel, as confirmed by official sources.
The death of the 31-year-old artist was confirmed by the director of emergency medical services for the city of Buenos Aires, Alberto Crescenti, who told local media that the fall had caused him “very serious injuries that immediately caused his death.
Payne had been in the Argentine capital since earlier this month, when he performed at the Movistar Arena alongside Nial Horan, another member of the defunct British group.
Likewise, Crescenti assured that when the emergency services arrived at the scene, “there was no possibility of doing anything”, they found “very serious injuries, compatible with the accident”. An official investigation was opened to clarify the facts.
Laim Payne was, along with Nial Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, a member of the successful British group which, over the last decade, enjoyed a musical phenomenon that lasted only six years. Period during which they released five studio albums before their final separation in 2016.
Hailing from the UK’s X Factor, Payne joined the rest of the group for its release in 2010. Once split, Payne released a solo album in 2019.
