A regional emergency situation (ES) has been introduced in Kalmykia due to soil drought. This was announced on Wednesday, October 16, by the head of the region, Batu Khasikov.
“I receive inquiries from our farmers about the difficulties in preparing for wintering and preparing feed and, in this regard, I have decided to introduce a regional emergency situation. Previously, following my instructions, a study of the situation was carried out, according to the results of which a soil drought was determined in the territory of nine district municipalities.” — he said on his Telegram channel.
According to him, this measure will minimize the risks of the activity for farmers. Khasikov also noted that decisions will be made on additional measures for the development of land reclamation and feed production.
Previously, on September 30, a state of emergency was declared in the Oryol region due to a prolonged drought. It was noted that in this regard the authorities of the Orël region must take measures to reduce the consequences of the emergency situation.
Prior to this, a state of emergency was declared in the Trans-Baikal Territory on August 15 due to drought. According to the results of the field inspection, 26.5 thousand hectares of crops were damaged. Farms that cannot produce hay or that have lost their harvest will receive help, Izvestia reminds.
