Sidenor confirms to the CNMV its interest in buying up to 100% of Talgo

Talgo confirmed this Wednesday to the CNMV that it had received an expression of interest from the Sidenor industrial group to acquire all or part of the capital of the company, confirming the information published this week on the interest of the president of Sidenor, Jose Antonio Jainagato enter Talgo.

“The company informs that it received today a letter of interest from the industrial group Sidenor, in which it says it is considering the total or partial acquisition of the capital of Talgo,” indicates the press release sent to the market regulator.

Talgo shares continued on Wednesday the upward path started on Tuesday, following the publication of the first information which once again gave oxygen to the company’s situation to increase its industrial capacity.

The Basque businessman (Jainaga) thus joins as a new option to resolve the industrial future of Talgo and would already evaluate his possible entry into the company as an industrial partner.

Sidenor, based in Basauri (Vizcaya), is dedicated to the production of long special steels, in addition to being a supplier of calibration products to the European market. It has production centers in the Basque Country, Cantabria and Catalonia, and has commercial delegations in Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

The search for an industrial partner has been worked on in recent months in the Basque Country, where Talgo has a factory in Rivabellosa (Alava), with a workforce of nearly 700 workers, not counting temporary workers and auxiliary companies who work for the company. business. . The company employs almost 2,500 direct workers throughout Spain.

The Basque institutions themselves – the Basque Government and the Provincial Delegation of Alava – have confirmed that they are working in a coordinated manner to help in the search for a partner, with the aim of promoting a project that allows addressing the investments planned to guarantee not only the continuity of Talgo, but also the demands that it will have to face in the future.
