DANA destroys access to Cimballa and leaves two other municipalities without drinking water in the province of Zaragoza

Although DANA activity seems to have diminished in the province of Zaragoza, it is beginning cleaning work and damage assessment in the most affected municipalities.

On Wednesday, Cimballa was one of the localities most affected by the great flood of waters. Two people had to be rescued after they were trapped in their home due to the river flooding.

The firefighters of the Provincial Delegation of Zaragoza continue their work this Friday for the third consecutive day of cleaning up the mess caused by the episode of heavy rain in the town. After the work carried out on Wednesday and Thursday, they returned to the town today at the request of the mayor, Cécile Eloy Roy.

In addition to all the mud and destruction generated by DANA, access roads were also severely affected. From Llumes and Aldehuela de Liestos are closed to traffic because the water carried away the platform and the road at several points.

Staff from the DPZ Road Works service were present in the town on Thursday to assess the damage and check that access to the urban area can be done by taking a road on which any vehicle can travel. As soon as the ground conditions allow it, the Provincial Delegation of Zaragoza will undertake the repair of the road “as an emergency”, we learned.

Meanwhile, the firefighters of the Provincial Delegation of Zaragoza are supplying drinking water to the towns of Castejón de las Armas and Litago due to turbidity problems in the municipal supply.
