Atlético appealed the sanction imposed by Competition, calling it “disproportionate”. The club said in a statement that this “harms a large number of Metropolitano supporters who had nothing to do with what happened and who showed exemplary behavior.”
In the statement, Atlético said: “We believe that the unacceptable behavior of a few cannot lead to such an excessive sanction towards a large majority who have committed no fault.” And to conclude: “The biggest loser of everything that happened is Atlético de Madrid and its supporters. Those responsible for this are those involved in the throwing of objects, who are the ones who must be punished and not the rest of the supporters, who amply demonstrated his good conduct.”
Statement of Appeal
Based on the above, the Appeals Commission declares:
“Partially accept the appeal filed by Atlético de Madrid against the resolution of the RFEF Disciplinary Commission of October 2, 2024 and, consequently, impose the following sanctions:
1º) Partial closure of its sports venue for a duration of ONE MATCH and a fine of three thousand euros (€3,000.00) for having committed the violation of article 107.1 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code.
2º) The partial closure will affect sectors 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132 and 133, and will be respected in the terms provided for in article 57.1 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code.
