Aviation giant Airbus confirms massive layoffs

Airbus is struggling “challenging business environment” and plans massive layoffs. Over the next year and a half, 2,500 employees could lose their jobs. The CEO of Airbus Defense and Space said the entire industry was facing challenges including supply chain disruptions and budget constraints.

On Wednesday, October 16, the Airbus press service announced that it plans to lay off 2.5 thousand employees by mid-2026. Reuters reports this.

According to Euronews, the company hopes to improve competitiveness by creating a more efficient organizational structure. Airbus announced that the layoffs were related to “difficult business situation”.

“In recent years, the space and defense sectors have faced supply chain disruptions, rapid changes in the military landscape, and increasing budget constraints.” – confirmed the CEO of Airbus Defense and Space Mike Scholhorn.
