The Central Election Commission of Georgia is ready to provide more than 3.3 million ballots for the country’s parliamentary elections. According to the CEC, more than 2.8 million of the 3.3 million votes will be electronic.
New things await Georgia voters. Those who received a ballot must now complete the circle instead of checking the box as before. After voting, the ballot must now be placed in a folder instead of an envelope.
3,031 polling stations will open in Georgia and 67 polling stations abroad. Voting will be carried out electronically in more than 2,000 polling stations.
The Georgian parliamentary elections may become a record for voter turnout abroad. To date, more than 95 thousand citizens living in other countries have expressed their desire to participate in the elections. In the elections held four years ago, 66,000 overseas voters were registered; in previous election years, even fewer were registered. 67 polling stations abroad is also a record number.
Elections to the Georgian Parliament will be held on October 26. An electronic voting system will be used for the first time in the elections.
