The Bar of the Parliament of Catalonia has stopped selling Conguitos because it considers them a racist product. Due to its name and color, it was suddenly thought that this popular candy It is an apology for colonialism in Africaits sale was therefore replaced by other chocolate products such as Toblerone or KitKat.
Faced with the surprise and exclamation of everyone in Parliament, the chamber, chaired by the neo-convergent Josep Rull, was obliged to react: “Parliament has not prohibited anything and the equality plan does not affect no longer the sale of Conguitos in the bar. Whether this product is not sold is a decision of the bar and not of Parliament. Some time ago, a customer, who wasn’t even a politician, wondered if it was appropriate to sell this product. The bar manager, when he had exhausted the stock he had, decided not to sell any more Conguitos for the moment.
The bar owner, according to his own explanations, made the aforementioned decision much more out of fear of a negative campaign than to obey the orders of a specific political official.
