“We must find the lost dialogue”

Antonio Diaz He will continue to lead the Confederation of Businessmen of Córdoba (CECO) for another four years. The organization’s general assembly elected him this Thursday by acclamation during a process in which he was the only candidate to present himself.

Given the wide presentation of the supports that have been made, the president of the Electoral Council consulted the participants, during the event organized in the Black Box of the Center for Contemporary Creation of Andalusia (C3A), if, as provided for in the statutes of the organization, he could be elected by acclamationwithout needing to vote.

The assembly agreed, resounding applause began and Antonio Díaz was re-elected president of the Businessmen of Córdoba for a third consecutive term, since coming to power in 2016.

“We still have a lot of important things to do. During these months I reflected on myself continuity as president and I appreciate the many expressions of affection I have received,” he said.

His idea is now “bigger, strongerwith the best, because this will make it better and more efficient. He therefore insisted on the role of business organizations, recognized in the Constitutionequally important for social dialogue and economic growth.

In this new stage, CECO will be fifty years old, since 47 years have passed since its foundation, and its challenge is to be “useful to companies and continue to improve” day after day.

Before an audience that included the mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, and representatives of Andalusian unions and employers’ organizations, Antonio Díaz asked that everyone build “a Company who admires, promotes and facilitates commercial activity.

Loss of recognition

“That companies have more acknowledgement The social aspect seemed to me to be a challenge overcome, but I fear that certain decisions and public declarations will take us back to square one,” he declared, in a possible criticism of the attitude of the Government or certain parties.

And he makes the link with the demand that companies have “a deregulated environment, favorable to productive activity, with fewer bureaucratic obstacles, with more legal securitywith less tax pressure and lower social costs.

And this in an environment in which he calls for “more political and institutional stability and confidence, more dialogue and much less tension“. Companies will respond with commitment and responsibility and will also promote “value generation and innovation in their business”.

Dialogue was one of the axes of Antonio Díaz’s speech at the start of his third term at the Confederation of Businessmen of Córdoba. According to him, the political dialoguesocial and institutional in Spain has been lost.

“We must maintain the willingness to negotiate with the other party and be willing to reach an agreement in the event of resignation”

“All of us, political leaders, business leaders and unions, must have a high vision,” he declared, before calling “to maintain the will to negotiate with the other party” and be “willing to reach an agreement, accepting challenges and also resignations.”

It was a reflection on the fact that the government only deals with the unions and leaves aside the employers’ organizations and then asks them to take responsibility agreements. Lost dialogue is what has always been done, he said.

The mayor, José María Bellido, also participated in the event, insisting on “a closed defense of the company and its role in society, because it generates wealth and job for many people”, and praised the work of Antonio Díaz during these years.

The presidents of the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (Cepyme), Gerardo Cuerva; from the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Andalusia (CEA), Javier González de Lara; from the Andalusian Council of Chambers of Commerce, Javier Sánchez; and the association of self-employed ATA, Lorenzo Amor, also supported his choice.

Among the institutional representatives were the president of the Provincial Council, Salvador Fuentes; the delegate of the Government of the Junta, Adolfo Molina, and the subdelegate of the Central Government in Córdoba, Ana López.
