Katz noted that Israel sees UNIFIL as an important element in the future structure of southern Lebanon “the day after tomorrow” after the war. As previously reported, the UN peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that another peacekeeper was injured as a result of a shelling that occurred in the south of the country, near the border with Israel. UNIFIL representatives reported that the latest clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have caused serious damage to peacekeeper positions.
