Russia and Mongolia plan to build nuclear power plants

In the first half of 2025, Russia and Mongolia could sign an agreement on the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant in a promising region near New Karakorum, the new capital of the state, Russian ambassador to the country Alexey told Izvestia. Evsikov.

“The parties agreed to develop a draft intergovernmental agreement. We hope that in the first half of next year we can sign it.” – the diplomat stressed.

Rosatom previously noted that the technical design of the nuclear power plant project was practically approved. To develop it, the parties still need to evaluate the proposed location, find funding sources, agree on a number of technical conditions and start training local specialists.
