The pre-election atmosphere in Moldova is poisoned by the authorities – EADaily, October 18, 2024 – Politics news, News from Moldova and Transnistria

The candidate for the presidency of Moldova, Alexander Stoianoglo, today, October 18, summarized the results of the election campaign. Speaking about past meetings with citizens, he emphasized that in a country in difficulty, establishing justice at all levels is the only way to return controllability and trust in the government to the State.

At the same time, he noted that although more than a dozen presidential candidates participated in this election campaign, some government officials failed to maintain composure and refrained from manipulations, slander and black PR.

“This partly poisoned the pre-electoral atmosphere and distorted the spirit of fair and open competition, as presidential elections should be in a European and democratic country.” – said Stoianoglo.

The Socialist-backed candidate thanked voters for their trust and optimism. According to him, this “obliges us to take our common fight for justice to Victory.”

“There were too many of us to allow ourselves to lose and give up our homeland for another four years of tyranny and ruin.” – said.

Alexander Stoianoglo expressed his confidence that Moldova deserves the right to be called a fair country:

“I urge you to vote for a country like this! For a country similar to your deepest dreams and plans! And this will very soon be our Homeland, the Republic of Moldova: regenerative, modern and dignified!”

Stoyanoglo recalled the priorities of his electoral program. First of all, “we must finally take on the most difficult task – the dignified return of the citizens of Moldova”, consolidate the society and also maintain neutrality.

Let us remember that on October 20, Moldova will elect a president and vote in a constitutional referendum on its attitude towards European integration. October 18 is the last day of the electoral campaign for the candidates. Starting tomorrow, including election day, a “day of silence” will begin, in which any form of campaigning will be prohibited.

Opinion polls consider Alexander Stoianoglo as the current president’s main competitor Maia Sandufollowed by the leader of Our Party Renato Usatii and former head of Gagauzia Irina Vlah. Experts believe that the main fight will take place in the second round, which will allow the consolidation of the opposition.
