“Volkswagen Passat Pro” debuted at the Chengdu Auto Show in China.

It should be noted that the Passat Pro model is the result of joint work between SAIC and VW in parallel with the previous generation Passat. Although the front design of the model repeats that of the European station wagon, there are differences in technology.
The official competitor of the new VW Passat Pro is the Magotan model from the FAW-VW joint venture. There are three screens in the interior design of both models, but some details are different. The chassis and engine range are the same. The wheelbase is also the same – 2,871 mm. But the body panels and lighting equipment are original.
Two different body kits are offered for the “Volkswagen Passat Pro”: the basic package (silver sedan) and the additional sport package (black sedan). The buyer can choose from seven wheel options and order a set of anti-chrome wheels. The overall length of the model is more than five metres (5,006 mm), which means that the sedan is almost nine centimetres longer than the European station wagon and exceeds it by three centimetres in the wheelbase.
The technology is typical for Chinese Volkswagen models: the basic version offers a 1.5-litre turbo engine (160 hp), as well as a 2.0-litre engine (220 hp). Both engines run on petrol and are mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Passat Pro does not have an all-wheel drive version. Sales are scheduled to begin in September, but the price has not yet been announced.
The base model is expected to be priced at 180,000 yuan (about 25,000 U.S. dollars) (this price also applies to the Volkswagen Magotan model).
