Castilla y León demonstrates its rejection of the crime of the woman strangled in Segovia

Castilla y León remained silent this Friday about the woman who died after being strangled by her ex-partner in Arroyo de Cuéllar (Segovia). THE Courts of Castile and Leónwith representatives of different political forces, and the Government Delegation, with numerous institutional representatives, were some of the places where acts of rejection were called against gender-based violence.

Silence was maintained in the nine provinces in memory of the woman who lost her life this Thursday after spending several days in hospital following serious injuries caused by her ex-partner, who I got a restraining order trying to strangle him. The inmate fled the scene and was later arrested in the nearby town of Cuéllar.

Certain facts for which he is already in provisional prison, communicated and without bail, as agreed by the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Sepúlveda – temporarily replacing that of Cuéllar -, which also issued the loss of parental authority over a minor girl of common age, who currently lives with the maternal grandmother.

The President of the Council, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, expressed its “strongest condemnation” of the new case of assassination due to gender-based violence. On his account on the social network “no retreat in the fight against this scourge”.

For her part, the Vice-President of the Commission and Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Isabel Blanco, from León, called on “unit” administrations and society as a whole to fight against gender violence, reports Ical.

Isabel Blanco conveyed “all her love and support” to the victim’s loved ones and highlighted the “inalienable commitment in the fight against gender-based violence demonstrated for many years” by the Council, described as “a pioneer in the implementation of measures, innovative laws and new resources”like the Atiendo virtual center, which “reaches the entire Community”.

Blanco also argued for “advance awareness and prevention” with the aim of ensuring that events such as those that occurred in Arroyo de Cuéllar “do not happen”, as well as “reverse the scourge of gender-based violence”.
