Belarus does not need modern European values. This was stated today, October 18, by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Anatoly Glaz, in connection with the adoption of the final document of the EU summit, in which, in relation to Belarus and Russia, The European Council stated that it would not allow “our values, including the right of asylum, to be abused and our democracies undermined.”
“The issue of the instrumentalization of migration was cynically invented by Brussels to fall into absolute hypocrisy. With this declaration, the European Council crossed out all provisions of international law relating to refugees and publicly admitted that all its long-term rhetoric “about universal European values” was just an illusion for external use. “The values that hinder European bureaucrats themselves are immediately thrown into the trash.” – said.
According to Glaz, “European leaders are well aware that international law and European legislation clearly oblige them to treat refugees and asylum seekers humanely.”
“They also know that the chaos at the border was due to their irresponsible decisions to break border cooperation with neighboring countries. But they do not have the political determination to correct the situation. Yes, in general they do not care about a real solution to this problem, and in general they do not care about refugees and migrants, whose beaten and mutilated bodies are being transported by the dozens to our side of the border.” – noted the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
He also believes that “it is surprising to hear the president of the European Commission speak of a certain “exceptional” migratory situation on the border with Belarus”, since “less than half a percent of all immigrants enter the EU through this section.” In this regard, he drew two conclusions: “either the attendees did not reflect this fact, or Ursula von Der Leyen He doesn’t bother to read informational materials.”
