Page questions minister and says he has ‘more worrying’ information about airport

The President of Castile-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Pagequestioned the statements of the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saizhe said Thursday, assuring that “no decision has been made” regarding the installation of an immigration center at Ciudad Real airport.

Faced with comments according to which this project is “in an absolutely initial phase”, the leader of the Castilian-La Mancha Executive expressed that He prefers to “contrast things” because the information he has is “a little more worrying”.

“If we were to trust Spain in what is said in the press conferences, we were prepared“, she warned in statements during an institutional event on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women in Alcaudete de la Jara (Toledo).

Likewise, he joined the criticism of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, with regard to the immigration policy of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and warned that “These models do not solve the migration problem, whether in Albania or in the middle of the Channel, but rather create new ones.”

In addition to indicating that he hopes to be able to talk about this subject with the Spanish government, he said that after Sánchez’s words, he hopes that “barbarities like what happened at the airport get out of the heads of those who think about it“.

It should be added that Page has already warned Moncloa that the conversion of the airport into a center with these characteristics “contravenes the legislation” because the Project of Singular Interest (PSI) with which the construction of the airport infrastructure was approved “permits certain things and prohibits others.”

Council criticizes confidentiality agreement

After the Minister of Economy, Trade and Employment, Patricia Franco, announced this Thursday that there is a confidentiality agreement between the airport and the government, the first vice-president of the Board of Directors , José Luis Martinez Guijarrocriticized this commitment. “It attracts attention because it is a public matter: the generation of infrastructure in a territory.”

Likewise, he indicated that it was a subject that gets off to a “very bad start”since the forms were “opposed to those which should be used when proposing any project”.

“I hope that the Spanish government will reconsider and prevail with common sense to find together a solution to a problem that affects the country and the entire European Union,” he acknowledged.

PP and Vox demand explanations from Page

For his part, PP and Vox urged Emiliano García-Page to appear before the Cortes de Castilla-La Mancha to inform and give details of the case.

While the “popular” considers that the project “cannot be tolerated” and asks Page to “act with force”, the political party led by David Moreno in Castilla-La Mancha demands “transparency” and doubts that the community knows nothing.

Airport containers

As reported by EL ESPAÑOL – EL DIGITAL CLM this Thursday, the Europa Press news agency had access to a document in which the airport allegedly addressed the Urban Solid Waste Management Consortium of the Provincial Delegation of Ciudad Real to ask budget for what he calls “a major project”, which would start “in two or three weeks at most”.

In the letter, they request eight organic waste containers, six more blue and six more yellow for their facilities.

Likewise, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ciudad Real, José Luis Ruiz, called on businessmen in the province to make a boycott the project. Concretely, he urged companies not to provide services at the airport if they wish to contribute to the construction of the migrant reception center.
