Valencia City Hall confirms its tax reduction in the face of Pedro Sánchez’s “rubbish”

The Local Government Commission of Valencia City Hall agreed this Friday to submit for approval at the next plenary session the tax ordinances for 2025, in which “confirms tax reduction for 2024“Faced with Pedro Sánchez’s “trash” who “force citizens to transmit 47.6 million euros”.

Valencia City Hall is thus referring to the new tariff which will come into force for the provision of the collection and transport service for urban solid waste.

According to the PP advisor in charge of Finance and Budgets, Maria José Ferrer San Segundo“It’s a rate that the Town Halls reject, but Pedro Sánchez forces us to approve to complete the bullshit of his waste law.”

Until now, explains the councilor, the municipal council assumed the costs of waste collection.

However, this measure cannot be maintained “because Article 11 of National Law 7/2022 of April 8waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy, requires municipal councils to approve, by 2025, a specific, differentiated and non-deficit rate, which tends towards payment systems per generation and which reflects the cost of the collection service and transport of waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy. waste”.

The leader of the PP demonstrated the rejection of this “imposition” on the part of the municipal government led by Mayor María José Catalá and declared that “the non-deficit configuration of the new rate binds the Town Halls hand and foot“.

“This requires us to have an impact on citizens 47.6 million euros the cost of collecting and transporting waste; and imposes Pedro Sánchez’s bullshit against our will,” he said.

In this sense, the head of the Treasury Department gave as an example that “from 2025, we could not, as we did a year ago, take from the municipal budget the 6 million euros that corresponded to Valencia as a contribution to the EMTRE so that this amount would be passed on to the neighbors”.

“Today, due to a legal imposition and against our will, we should pass it on to the citizen with an increase in the rate,” he said.

The councilor declared that “this is the first time in the history of Spanish municipalism that the Spanish government is forcing all municipalities to impose a new tariff.”

The legal configuration of the new rate as “not deficient“It also means restricting the concession and amount of discounts and bonuses that councils can apply to reduce rates.

To move towards payment per generation, as required by law, these quotas were determined by the technicians opting for the collection and transport of waste, for coordination and consistency throughout the waste management cycle, according to the same criteria used by EMTRE in terms of waste. treatment and elimination (TAMER): water consumption, measured over a defined period of 12 months, of the home.

In the case of economic activities, modulating both by consumption and by the CNAE Activity Group (National Code of Economic Activities) to which it belongs.

A total of 459,222 receipts between householdscommunities of owners and activities.

In the case of housing, it is estimated that for half (201,843 out of 408,396) the resulting costs will be €39.14/yearequivalent to 0.11 euros per day or 3.3 euros per month.

To relieve neighbors and businesses of this rate, Ferrer San Segundo confirmed that “we will also maintain for 2025 the historic tax reduction approved for the year 2024, which was the largest reduction in taxes and fees in the history of this Town Hall and the great Spanish cities”.

In addition, the new ordinance considers different tax benefits, which must have legal coverage and be limited in their amount so as not to violate the imposition of non-deficit rates, and reductions and bonuses can be accrued, such as a reduction of 30% for large families or families with limited resources.

In addition, a bonus of 10 euros is also envisaged for users who use ecoparks or 50 for “door-to-door” collection of paper and cardboard in companies, among others.
