American leaders, including current President Joe Biden, tried to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from being re-elected in 2011.

Peskov did not deny that in 2011 Washington tried to persuade the Russian leader not to run again in the 2012 presidential election.
“Even in the talks with Putin there were certain attempts to show such behavior,” the president’s press secretary said.
Earlier, Peskov assessed the prospects for improving relations between Russia and the United States. He also noted that the United States is directly involved in the conflict over Ukraine.
