Second prize went to Emily Thompson for her installation “Inversiones”
He International Flower Festival (Flora), which started this Friday in Cordoba, already has its winners. The first prize of the festival was awarded to This Humid House for its installation ‘Entre magnolios’ located in the courtyard of the Reloj de la Provincial Council of Córdoba. The prize is worth 25,000 euros and the jury awarded it to This Humid House for “its perfect adaptation to the ‘Multi-species’ theme, its dialogue with space, the use of local materials and its originality”.
The second prize, presented by María Van den Eynde and Emilio Ruiz Mateo, was awarded to Emily Thompson for his installation ‘Inversiones’ located in the patio of Naranjos du Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. The prize is worth 10,000 euros and the jury awarded it to Emily for “her exceptional execution, beauty and ambition”.
For Maria Van de Eyndedirector of Flora, “what is happening these days in Cordoba is something unique, as not only lovers of contemporary floral art know, but also all those interested in botany and its links with art and culture.
Emilio Ruiz Mateo, artistic director of the Festival, emphasized that “our idea of sustainability does not only focus on environmental protection, a fight as complex as it is necessary, but on the generation of talent. We want to think that Florano only lasts 12 days: what is seen, heard, discovered and thought here sows ideas and concerns in the city and among its visitors. And it lasts all year round.
