Kamchatka’s Shiveluch volcano spewed ash to a height of 8 km

In the Kamchatka Territory, the Shiveluch volcano spewed an 8 km long ash column, the Federal State Budgetary Institution Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (IViS) of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported this on September 2 in the telegram channel.

According to the institute, the ash column extended 50 kilometers northeast of the volcano.

“Volcanic activity is dangerous for local and international air travel” – the institute said in a statement.

It is specified that the Shiveluch volcano is located 50 km north of the village of Klyuchi and 450 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The eruption of the Shiveluch volcano began on August 17. The volcano then ejected a column of ash 9 km above sea level.
