Media representatives held a press tour of the COP29 event site

On October 18, in connection with the preparations for the climate conference, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company organized a mediation visit to the Baku Olympic Stadium, where the event will be held.

Oku.Az informs that this was reported by the press service of the COP29 Operating Company of Azerbaijan.

It was reported that more than 60 media representatives, including heads of radio and television companies, information agencies and news websites, were present at the media tour, where detailed information was provided on the work carried out in preparation for the COP29.

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, member of the COP29 Organizing Committee Anar Alakbarov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and General Director of Operations Narmin Jarchalova, as well as heads of relevant departments of the Operating Company participated in the mediation. Within the framework of the familiarization tour, representatives of the media learned extensive information about the work carried out to prepare the event space for the conference, it was said that the construction and installation work carried out in the area is in the final stage of completion and the event space will be handed over to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on the required date.

Media heads and journalists visited the Blue and Green zones of the Baku Olympic Stadium, where the conference will be held, and learned about the infrastructure created in the event space, the technologies provided and the various designated zones and spaces. During the conference, the guests also visited the Media Center, where the necessary conditions were created for organizing the effective work of media representatives. It was noted that up to 2,700 media representatives, including the world’s most influential media organizations, have been accredited to cover the conference and the registration process is currently underway. The Media Center, which occupies an area of ​​6,325 square meters, has all the necessary conditions for 1,200 media representatives to work at the same time.

It was also highlighted within Mediatur that according to current data, the initial number of representatives from different countries registered to participate in COP29 is already 28,000 people. Taking into account the tendency of most delegations to request registration closer to the event, typical of COP events, it was said that during the ongoing registration process, a dynamic increase in these figures will be observed in the coming weeks.

It was especially highlighted that during the organization of the COP29 conference, ensuring inclusivity and affordability was taken into account as one of the main priorities. Therefore, to make the event space accessible to everyone, the relevant requirements were taken into account at all stages of construction and installation work.
