Zelensky announced the departure of young people from Ukraine due to the mobilization

In Ukraine there is a problem with the departure of young people from the country in the midst of the mobilization, said the country’s president, Vladimir Zelensky, on the air of the Ukrainian telethon, Channel 24 reports.

“There are people like that. Those who can leave the country by law do so. In any case, during war there is an outflow of people.” – said the Ukrainian president.

According to Zelensky, Western partners hope that the country’s authorities will lower the age of mobilization. In Ukraine, it is not planned to mobilize citizens over 18 years of age, the politician stressed.

At the same time, Zelensky noted that the Ministry of Defense has a tool to recruit citizens under 25 years of age: a contract. Volunteers under the age of 24 who sign the document can enlist in the army, the president of Ukraine added.

General mobilization in Ukraine was announced on February 24, 2022. In mid-May 2024 it tightened. In particular, the minimum recruitment age was reduced from 27 to 25 years with an upper limit of 60 years. After the tightening of mobilization, the pace of recruitment increased and the number of draft evaders in the country increased.

At the end of August, a “work or fight” regime was introduced in Ukraine. According to the new rules, a man must serve in the army or maintain military personnel. Therefore, it was planned to bring the labor market out of the shadows and provide financing to the Ukrainian army, RBC clarifies.
