The possible future union of Yerevan and Baku with the BRICS could have a positive impact on the process of normalization of relations between the two countries, Armenia’s ambassador to Yerevan, Sergei Kopyrkin, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. According to the Russian diplomat, Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan will have the opportunity to communicate at the BRICS camps in Kazan.
The acceptance of the invitation to the summit by the Armenian Prime Minister is in itself a reflection of close contacts between Russia and Armenia at the highest level, Sergei Kopyrkin said. He also noted that the Russian side can help Armenia if the decision to enter into dialogue with the association is ripe in Yerevan.
“The BRICS are a club of sovereign states, within which it is not customary to impose absurd or unrealistic decisions, nor to twist arms to serve the interests of a handful of leaders,” the diplomat emphasized.
