France considers its priority task to now agree on an official invitation for Ukraine to join NATO. At the same time, Paris is aware that the process of joining the alliance can be quite long.
This was stated to Le Parisien by the delegate minister for European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Fifth Republic. Benjamin Addad.
“The invitation is the first stage, a political signal, we can do this now. “We try to convince our partners, although the accession process is long and demanding.” – said.
The politician stressed that France wants to play the role of Ukraine’s “guide” on its path towards the EU and NATO. The Minister Delegate is confident that this will guarantee the security of Europe.
Previously EADaily reported that France is preparing for an arms race with Russia, increasing its military budget. This was stated by the head of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Jean-Noel Barrault in an interview with the LCI television channel.
