The Hawaii Bar in Pamplonaone of the classics of the second Ensanche, will close its doors at the end of September. Customers already They will not be able to take advantage of the famous “twist” which remains one of the great attractions.

Paloma Sagués Lacasa is the person who leads Hawaiian bar for ten years, on September 25. The owner will not extend the lease of the establishment and the premises will be closed pending a replacement.
The house specialty is home-made cooking with the potato omelette that we make on site and which is very successful. After the pandemic we put skewers at the bar on Thursday and Friday mornings. We cook almost everything daily so everything is fresh and there is no waste. There is no menu, just cazuelas,” Paloma explains.
This is not a cocktail bar: “We closed on weekends and now everything has changed after covid. There is a much younger clientele and we are doing a lot of orders to take away like twelve peppers stuffed with cod or fourteen portions of ajoarriero,” explains Paloma.
It is a bar that opened as a cafeteria in the early 60s. There was a very bullfighting atmosphere. when Lucio Riesco, originally from Toledo, and Mila Balerdi, from Tierra Estella, took over the management of the establishment in 1973. The walls were filled with bullfighting posters and photographs of the maestro Romero’s work, much admired by Lucio Riesco.
Paloma gradually modified the posters and photographs. Now you can see Tintin and the pictures of the rojillos, as a dedicated image of David Garcia, who has just left Osasuna and has launched himself into Arab football.
