Mossos d’Esquadra agents dismantled a criminal organization that was sending drugs hidden in freezers to northern European countries and arrested a 31-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal group.
According to the Caalana police, the investigation began in May when officers learned that at an international transport company, located in the Barcelona Free Zonethere was a pallet containing medicines which was being prepared for shipment to a country in northern Europe.
“In order to verify the criminal activityAs initial information indicates, investigators went to the business and verified that inside the pallet was indeed a freezer manipulated to put marijuana and haixix. The agents inspected the freezer and found that the lower part had been manipulated and that in the spaces where it should contain the foam to maintain the cold, they had hidden a total of eleven bags of marijuana buds, a total of 7 kg and six bags containing hashish tablets, for a total of 5 kilos. Its value is estimated to be around 70,000 euros on the illicit market.
Officers discovered that this shipping company had made a total of 14 previous shipments, on a bi-weekly basis, at the request of the same person.
