Israeli operations are pushing Iran to take “legitimate measures” – Turkish Foreign Ministry

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Israel’s military actions in Lebanon and Gaza are forcing Iran to consider taking “legal measures.”

This was stated in a press conference after a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi.

Fidan expressed concern that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is opening new fronts in the region and therefore trying to drag Iran into armed conflict.

The Turkish minister also stressed that the risk of the war spreading to other Middle Eastern countries cannot be underestimated.

“We, like Türkiye, do not want war in our region. We believe that common sense and composure should be respected in this matter,” said the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

For his part, Abbas Araghchi, who participated in the meeting of the South Caucasus countries on Friday, noted that the worsening situation in Lebanon raises serious concerns.

The Iranian diplomat said that while Iran is committed to reducing tensions, it is ready for any development if circumstances require it.

Previously, Kursor wrote that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, upon returning from a visit to Albania and Serbia, made harsh statements about the events in the Gaza Strip, calling what was happening genocide and emphasizing that it was a shame for the entire humanity.

He expressed concern that Israel’s actions pose a threat not only to regional but also global security, and called on world leaders to take immediate steps to eliminate this danger.

Erdogan also said that those who support Israel, which he described as a “Zionist terrorist organization”, would be morally responsible for their actions to future generations. He expressed confidence that the plans of Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will fail and that Palestine and Lebanon will retain their independence.

The Turkish president noted that Israel is destabilizing the region, acting not only against Palestine and Lebanon, but also creating a broader crisis. He stressed that Türkiye is aware of these threats and is taking measures to prevent them.

Erdogan paid special attention to the role of Turkish intelligence services, which monitor Israeli actions that threaten Turkey. He also thanked British musician Roger Waters and former Greek Economy Minister Yanis Varoufakis for their support and raising awareness of the situation in Gaza.

The president concluded his speech by saying that Türkiye will continue to actively use diplomatic and legal mechanisms to hold Israel accountable for its actions in the region.
