In Plovdiv, Bulgaria, known for its active stance in defense of the Soviet Alyosha monument, banners appeared with the slogan “Russia is our friend.”
This action was organized by the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) to emphasize brotherly ties with Russia. This was told to RIA Novosti on October 19 by a local BSP deputy. Ivan Petkov.
“With this action we wanted to show the sincere desire of the members and supporters of our party. “It is also an expression of the will of our society that Russia be perceived as a fraternal nation.” – said.
The politician explained that the banners reflect the sincere attitude of many Bulgarians towards Russia as a brother country. Petkov emphasized that the daily flow of lies about the Russian Federation in the media does not resonate with the people.
As reported EADailyIn January, a protest rally in defense of the Alyosha monument took place in Plovdiv. Defenders of the Soviet monument gathered near the City Hall building. This happened after a proposal was made to the city council to dismantle the famous monument and move it to the Museum of Communist Art. As a result, Alyosha managed to fight back.
