Mongolia will be able to use some of the cheap gas that will flow through the country via a pipeline from Russia to China, President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Mongolian newspaper Onoodor.
The Head of State recalled the project of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline, over 960 kilometers long, which is planned to be built and routed from Russia to China through the territory of Mongolia. According to the President, the project documentation was completed by the end of December 2023.
“Incidentally, if at first the Mongolian partners wanted to limit themselves to a transit function, they are now considering the possibility of using part of the cheap gas from the pipeline to develop their economy and infrastructure.” – Putin said.
He also said that Russia is “responding” to Mongolia’s requests for supplies of fuel and lubricants at preferential prices.
“The corresponding intergovernmental agreement is being negotiated” – the president noted.

The design of Power of Siberia 2 began in 2020. Its approximate length is about 6.7 thousand kilometers, of which 2.7 thousand should pass through the territory of Russia, the projected capacity is 50 billion cubic meters. m per year.
