“Of the ones I have seen, the one that seems best to me is Vimcorsa, which is more spectacular and more elaborate,” says Julia Trillo, one of the spectators of Flora. A 72-year-old woman from Cordoba, alone or with her family, claims to have seen the vast majority of the installations since the first edition. On this occasion he did it with the one already mentioned, that of Orive, that of the Palacio de Viana and the winner, “Entre magnolios”, located in the clock patio of the Palacio de la Merced. “I took three photos of this one and I’m going to delete them,” he says with humor to show how much he didn’t like it.
Like her, many Cordobans and visitors, attracted by the particularity and originality of the proposal, take the opportunity to walk among the works, after having queued but not too many people, becoming for the occasion artistic criticism. “It’s a little abstract, we expected more, something flowery… it disappointed us a little,” says Juan José Medina, who has been visiting the city since Grenade. His partner, Isabel Rodríguez, doesn’t like it either, but she appreciates the work behind it: “For example, it is lit from the inside and plays with the fountain.” In his case, the work of the Asian group The wet house It’s the first one they’ve seen, so other facilities will surely satisfy them. Lola Aguilar, from Cordoba, saw the winner and that of the old Casa Carbonell (Vimcorsa): “I expected more from the winner, in other years the one from the Provincial Council was more attractive, and the one from Casa Carbonell is very strange.”

Many people have made unfavorable comments about “Among the Magnolias”, even decidedly hurtful, and all while taking photos, which cannot be missed regardless of the impression the work leaves. But there are those who liked it. Although with limits. This is the case of Cordoba friends Inmaculada Ramos and Salud Guillén. The latter explains that she already attracts more attention in the photos than others: “I liked it, but when you see it from afar, more up close.” They have all seen them before and Ramos emphasizes above all the installation of the Mosque-Cathedralwho won second prize.
The smell of Viana
Inside Orange Tree Courtthe agitation is enormous. Four friends from Madrid are resting on the steps just in front of Inversiones, a work by the American Emily Thompson. It was the first work they saw, while they were staying in a nearby hotel. His intention was to go to Viana Palace. “We loved it, also because of the beautiful location where it is located and because it uses many rare cacti and plants.” By rare plant, this group of visitors refers to some unusual types of brassicas and pumpkins.
‘The frayed being’, the installation at the Palais de Viana
It is precisely at the Viana Palace that there is an agreement among all the spectators: how good the installation “El ser deshilachado” smells, which uses lilies in several of its parts. “It’s the first time we come to Córdoba and seeing this work with the whole course of Viana’s courses is spectacular,” says Marcela Medina, who comes with her husband Antonio and her daughters Marcela and Luisa, from Valencia. For Sevillian friends Paula González and María del Mar Pastor, this installation represents the final touch of a several-day visit to Cordoba and Granada. In the case of the capital, they also saw the Patio de los Naranjos. “We really liked them both, although it must be said that the location they are in helps a lot.”

In the installation at Vimcorsa headquarters “A plant thought”, which represents two neurons making a synapse, José García de Córdoba remembers the first edition of Flora, which was more to his taste: “It’s more modern and I prefers the classic “Come on, I’m also going to see the exhibition of Julio Romero de Torres y Zuloaga here, not to be missed.” For their part, Anselmo Torres and his wife Clara Benegas come from Madrid equipped with a magnificent multi-lens camera. His intention is to see the Vimcorsa and that of the mosquewhich is very well located for the tourist apartment they are located in, near Las Tendillas. They kept taking photos of the installation. “It’s very interesting for the camera because it has so many arms or legs, and holes and details, and then we go to the other to see the mosque, which we don’t know.”

Inside The Palais d’Orive “Fusion” is on display. There, a couple of young couples from Córdoba, Joaquín Torrás and Isabel Fernández, feel a little disappointed. “It’s one of those Flora installations that we see and they’re missing something,” they emphasize, recalling details from other editions. Nearby, two friends from Barcelona, Marta Vila and Alba Calders, listen to the conversation and give their opinion: “The artist’s intention is clear and we think she succeeds, and the patio is very beautiful, like all those of Córdoba.”
