The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office ordered preventive internment in a closed regime in a juvenile center in order to the 16 year old who was arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing a taxi driver 62 years old last Tuesday in Alcalá de Henares, as fiscal sources informed Europa Press.
The man’s arrest took place on Wednesday around 11 p.m., in the Corrala district, not far from the crime scene. It was his mother who reported him to the police, after seeing the image of the attacker captured by the taxi’s security camera, and which circulated on all social networks. The agents were already tracking him.
This crime caused deep emotion in Alcalá de Henares. This happened in the parking lot of the Príncipe de Asturias Hospital, after a trip started at a local stop. The young man requested several stops, saying he was meeting friends. After 97 minutes in the taxi, he stabbed the driver.
The police continue to investigate the causes of the crime, although initially hypothesis of a frustrated robbery. For its part, the Auto Taxi Guild has called for more resources and safety measures to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
