Sánchez isolates himself in India from political noise in Spain

The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezmaintains its international agenda despite the latest internal scandals which destabilize its government. The head of the Executive visited India this Monday, where he was received by a delegation accompanied by the Prime Minister of that country, Narendra Modi.

This visit had been planned for weeks on the president’s agenda. This is Sánchez’s first visit to this country, where Modi was re-elected last June after 10 years in power.

Upon his arrival in the country, Sánchez was seen with Modi in the city of Vadodara, where he was received in the streets by a delegation in a vehicle in which many flowersbefore moving to the new factory TATA Aircraft Complex, in which the Spanish aeronautical company Airbus participates.

There, the two leaders inaugurated the factory and highlighted the ties between the two countries. “Spain and India are moving forward by promoting industrial and technological collaboration,” assured Sánchez, after Moncloa highlighted the geostrategic importance of this country.

When you arrived, everything was smiles and hugs during a trip to which the president’s wife, Begoña Gómez, was also invited. The procession marched through the streets of the city, where the leaders were received by hundreds of people who greeted them.

During this car ride, dances and welcome ceremonies were also highlighted, in a folkloric exhibition. India dressed up to welcome the Spanish president, whom Modi also thanked for his visit with messages in Spanish on his social media.

Internal controversies

Nothing to do with the internal situation, marked by the scandal of Iñigo Errejón and the images of the commission agent Victor de Aldama a few years ago at the PSOE headquarters.

In an informal conversation with journalists before boarding the plane that would take him to India, Sánchez discussed the latter case and said he had not “said a word with this man.”

I never sat or met with this man neither formally nor informally”, Sánchez added, despite the images published by this newspaper of Aldama at the PSOE headquarters during the 2019 election night and the photograph published by The world in which we see the president and the businessman posing.

Regarding the controversy over the accusations of sexual violence against Íñigo Errejón, Sánchez also said that it was something “painful and very unpleasant”.

Addacted with strength, speed and without any nuance“, said the president in the same conversation with journalists. Moncloa is trying to establish a firewall with Errejón, leaving the party to Yolanda Diazso as not to harm the stability of the legislative power.
