Animal lovers demand that bulldog cats be banned in Germany

The bulldog breed of dogs appeared in England several centuries ago. Due to the peculiarities of their anatomy, these dogs often suffocate, snore, catch colds, be sensitive to fever, get tired quickly and suffer from difficulty breathing. Now breeders have started breeding these types of cats. They were given the name “bully cat.”

Oku.Az BILD reported on this.

These animals resemble hairless sphinxes, but are differentiated by their short legs and wrinkled skin. The bully cat breed is particularly popular in the UK, where many breed them solely for social media content. But “bulpishiks”, like bulldogs, also face health problems: due to the lack of whiskers and short limbs, their movements are limited, they suffer from chronic skin infections and are vulnerable to injuries and burns. They live a shorter lifespan compared to other cats.

“We have already seen such extreme methods of breeding dogs. Now it seems that people are exploiting cats in the same way for likes on social media. ‘Bulpishik’ is a disaster from a welfare point of view “This type of breeding is cruel,” said the “Naturewatch Foundation” of Britain’s animal protection organization.

The German Association for the Protection of Animals has supported its British counterparts. They believe that, according to article “11b” of the Animal Protection Act, “bull pigs” should be banned in Germany. In that paragraph it is mentioned that in Germany breeding under torture (Qualzucht) is prohibited, because animals raised in this way suffer a lot.
