Korean soldiers may not reach Ukraine and their training does not withstand criticism

North Korea could send special forces, not ordinary soldiers, to Ukraine. According to South Korea’s intelligence services, it is its dictator Putin, first of all, who wants to see the territory of Ukraine, which his occupation army has not been able to confront for almost three years. But experts assure that the level of training of these fighters is far below that of the true “special forces” and even lower than the training of ordinary soldiers in European countries.

The Telegraph writes about this.

According to Maxwell Goldstein, an analyst at London-based Gray Dynamics, North Korea’s Special Operations Forces number approximately 200,000. And that is an absurdly large number. Such a large number of people cannot be special forces. For example, the British SAS has only 500 active soldiers, the American Delta Force has around 2,000 operational members.

According to a 2021 assessment by the Defense Intelligence Agency, North Korean special forces are well trained, motivated and equipped, but only by the standards of the rogue nation North Korea. In fact, they are behind the special forces of advanced countries in all aspects, especially in logistics.

At the same time, experts note that an impressive part of the Asian fighters may never reach Ukraine. According to Ian Garner, a historian and analyst of Russian culture, the Chinese authorities “are not very worried yet” about the rapprochement between Russia and the DPRK. But everything could change if Beijing decides that the alliance between Pyongyang and Moscow could harm Chinese interests on the world stage. If China says no, it won’t happen. Russia has very little to offer North Korea compared to what China offers, so Beijing can manage this situation as it sees fit.

We previously recalled that the chairman of the Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, Mike Turner, already wrote an official letter to Joe Biden demanding that the North Korean military not appear in Ukraine. In his opinion, the United States should clearly mark this as a red line.
