The Moldovan opposition called the results of the elections and the referendum a defeat for the authorities.

The president of the opposition Pobeda bloc, Ilan Shor, stated that the preliminary results of the presidential elections in Moldova and the European referendum were a defeat for the authorities.

According to preliminary data from the Central Electoral Commission, after processing 90% of the electoral college records, he is running for a second presidential term. Maia Sandu earning 37.87%, former attorney general Alejandro Stoianoglo – 28.77%. According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, in the referendum 53.73% of voters voted against Moldova’s accession to the EU and 46.27% voted in favor.

“This is a defeat. The Moldovan people have expressed their opinion. Sandu, did you hear? Neither your European Union, nor you, nor your European masters are needed here. How did you upset the people, that even with the horse’s administrative resources, blockades, arrests, padding, they just kicked you out? “Everyone understands that now you are doing everything possible to steal votes.” — Shor wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, Sandu will not be able to convince people otherwise.

At the same time, Sandu said in a briefing that democracy in Moldova is under attack, as certain organized crime groups with the participation of foreign forces allegedly bought 300 thousand votes from Moldovan citizens.

Presidential elections were held in Moldova on Sunday and the head of the republic was elected for a four-year term. Also that day, a referendum was held in which citizens had to answer the question: “Do you support changing the constitution so that the Republic of Moldova joins the European Union?” Both events were considered valid, as participation in each of them exceeded the required threshold of 33.3%. The work of the sites in the country ended at 9:00 p.m. (coincides with Moscow time).
