The UK and Germany will soon conclude a “historic” defense deal. The Times newspaper wrote about this on October 20, quoting British Defense Minister John Healey.
“The UK will sign a historic defense deal with Germany this week” – says the material.
It was noted that the agreement will allow London and Berlin to conduct military exercises on NATO’s eastern border with the Russian Federation. According to the Times, military training could be deployed in Estonia or Lithuania. Additionally, as part of the agreement, countries will be able to jointly purchase weapons and also produce them.
The Times writes that the British Defense Secretary called the agreement with Germany the most important bilateral agreement since military cooperation with France, concluded in 2010. He also called this decision the first step towards closer cooperation between the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU) in the defense sector, clarifies Gazeta.Ru.
According to Healy, negotiations on this issue are planned for 2025, Izvestia adds.
